O’Dea Wrestling

The O’Dea High School Wrestling Program was started in 1985 by Barrett Corrigan. Since then, the O’Dea wrestling program has experienced a history of success. In 1991, under head coach Dave Enslow, the wrestlers won their first Metro title. That legacy continued for the next eleven years as O’Dea earned twelve consecutive Metro championships.   In all, since it’s inception, the O’Dea Wrestling Program has captured 25 Metro titles (12 in the last 13 years) and won 9 Regional championships. The O’Dea wrestling program earned State Academic Championships in 2002 and 2003.

Jeff Anderson coached the team from 1992-2021 and is a member of the O’Dea Wall of Honor. Joseph Balinbin ’07 is the current Head Coach.

Since many of our students have never wrestled prior to attending O’Dea, much of the credit goes out to all the volunteer alumni assistant coaches who return year after year to help mentor the younger wrestlers.

Coach's Corner

Joseph Balinbin ’07, was a 4 year starter and 4 year letter winner in wrestling at O’Dea high school. He has been a member of the O’Dea faculty, teaching Theology, English, and Social Studies, and was an assistant coach at O’Dea from winter 2012 through spring 2021. He has been a part of numerous Metro and Regional Titles and helped train multiple state medalists. In 2017, Balinbin received the Metro League Assistant Coach of the Year and the WIAA Region 1 Assistant Coach of the Year. In the winter of 2021 he took over the head coaching position after O’Dea Wall of Honor recipient Jeff Anderson retired after a long successful coaching career. Coach Balinbin brings a genuine love for the sport, a wry sense of humor, and an appreciation for O’Dea’s strong wrestling tradition to his new position as head coach.
