The St. James community is central to the O’Dea Experience. Our students celebrate Mass at the Cathedral, serve those in need at the Cathedral Kitchen, advocate in Olympia with leaders in the St. James community, and build a youth community of faith with St. James’ ministry programs. The O’Dea community values our close neighbor and is grateful for the opportunities available to our students through this important relationship.
St. James Youth Ministry serves as a pastoral care resource for O’Dea students, offering a safe space for students to share about issues in their lives. In addition, we support O’Dea’s St. Vincent de Paul chapter, and offer various service opportunities that fulfill O’Dea’s Christian Service Learning Requirement.
O’Dea students cook and serve a nourishing, hot meal to those in need, regularly. The Cathedral Kitchen serves anyone in need, regardless of age, gender, or creed.
O’Dea students and families gather at St. James Cathedral to live and celebrate their faith together during special occasion masses: Mass for the Deceased Homeless and Special Needs Mass.
