Mentoring for Empathy & Kindness

In the Fall of 2022, O’Dea introduced Character Strong curriculum into our social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum. The Character Strong SEL curriculum strongly supports O’Dea’s mission to develop young men of character by directly nurturing kindness and empathy in our community. Lessons occur twice a month with all students in Mentor Group.

O’Dea’s approach to Character Strong is unified throughout the entire school with all faculty and staff being assigned a specific Mentor Group to support. Our Faculty & Staff take time each week to review the lessons prior to teaching. In order to fully support and engage in this learning in the classroom, the school is closed to visitors during Character Strong time. Character Strong is used in all 50 states and 21 countries.
