O’Dea Baseball

The O’Dea High School Baseball Program is led by Michael Doyle ’97, who was named head coach in 2007. The Fighting Irish have enjoyed great success, winning State Championships in 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2014. In 2002, 2003, 2019, and 2023, the Fighting Irish advanced to the State semifinals and finished in the top four in State. Behind strong pitching, defense and clutch hitting, the Fighting Irish have established the premier baseball program in the state of Washington.

Coach's Corner

Coach Mike Doyle, O’Dea class of 1997, has been the Head Baseball Coach at O’Dea High School for 16 years, after 6 years serving as an assistant coach in the program. During Coach Doyle’s tenure, the Irish have amassed 237 wins to 100 losses, a .703 winning percentage, a 17-5 State Tournament record, 3-WIAA 3A State Titles (2009, 2010, 2014), and 4 Metro League titles (2014, 2015, 2018, 2019).

Throughout his tenure, Coach Doyle has been recognized as the 2009 Metro Coach of the Year and Associated Press 3A State Coach of the Year, 2010 Washington State Baseball Coaches Association All State Coach, 2014 Seattle Times- Star Times Coach of the Year, and the 2015 Northwest Baseball Umpires Association Coach of the Year.

After completing his Bachelor’s Degree in History at Gonzaga University, Coach Doyle completed his student teaching at O’Dea, and has been a full-time faculty member since 2007. He teaches 11th grade United States History, and 12th Grade Government Courses. Coach Doyle shares in his baseball passion with his wife Brittany and children Barrett (O’Dea Class of 2028) and Caprice.
