O'Dea Basketball

O'Dea

The O’Dea basketball program has a tradition of excellence that was established by the late Coach Phil Lumpkin. Fighting Irish basketball teams have captured eight Metro League Championships in its history, and won five State Titles in each of the following seasons: 1992-1993, 1996-1997, 2003-2004, 2004-2005, 2006-2007.

In the 2010-2011 season, the Fighting Irish will be led by new head coach Al Hairston. Coach Hairston brings a wealth of experience to O’Dea, having coached at both the high school and collegiate levels, including Seattle University and the University of Washington, and having played college basketball at Bowling Green and professionally with the Seattle Sonics. He takes over a talented team that finished fifth in State last season and lost only one senior to graduation.
