O’Dea Swim & Dive

Since 1992, O’Dea’s Swim & Dive Program has developed into a team of champions with high expectations to reach challenging goals with inner resolve and tenacity of spirit. Over the years this Irish team has produced:

  • 11 Metro League Titles
  • 9 State Champion Event Titles
  • 3 State records
  • 22 Academic All-Americans
  • 19 All-American Athletes

This non-cut sport develops you into a young man who is motivated, disciplined, and goal-oriented both in the classroom and the pool.

Coach's Corner

Coach Tom Schutte has been the Head Coach at O’Dea High School since 1992. In over 30 years of coaching he has led his team to a WIAA 3A State Team Title in 2000, 9 top four State trophy finishes, one Sea-King District 2 title, and 11 Metro League Championships. Coach Schutte has been named WIAA 3A State Coach of the Year 4 times in 2000, 2004, 2011, 2022. He was inducted into the O’Dea Wall of Fame in 2010. He is proud to have produced 32 NISCA Academic All Americans, 21 All Americans in Swimming, and 12 State Meet title event champions. He has served proudly on the Executive Board of the Washington Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association for many years and is an active competitive swimmer in United States Masters Swimming. Coach Schutte is blessed to be the spouse of Jennifer and father of Sophia and Aidan (O’Dea Class of 2022).
