Financial Aid Deadlines
Returning Students: Applications and Documents must be received by December 31, 2011. In order to meet this deadline the Required Documents below must be mailed or uploaded to SSS (School and Student Services) no later than December 15, 2011 as it takes them 2 weeks to process these items.
New Students: Applications and Documents must be received by January 12, 2012. In order to meet this deadline the Required Documents below must be mailed or uploaded to SSS by December 29, 2011 as it takes them 2 weeks to process these items.
Required Applications and Documents (Mailed or Uploaded to the SSS website):
- Parent Financial Statement (SSS Application) www.sss.nais.org/parents
- Fulcrum Foundation Application- Available on-line December 1st
- 2010 1040 Tax form pages 1 & 2
- November 2011 paystub for household adults employed
- If any of the household adults are self employed the Paystub must be substituted for a Business/Farm Statement for the period January to December 2011 and Schedule C from your 2010 Tax return.
To ensure that required documents are uploaded correctly, please use the O'Dea High School Financial Aid Document Cover Sheet or the SSS Required Documents Cover Sheet when mailing documents to SSS. Mail documents at least 2 weeks before the deadline.
In addition to the above documents, an O'Dea High School Financial Aid Document Checklist must be sent to O'Dea by the deadline to ensure a complete application.
If your Applications and Documents are not received by the due dates above you may not receive any financial assistance. As a result, it is imperative that you meet the deadlines above to receive the amount of tuition assistance that is the most appropriate for your financial make-up.
Instructions for Families Applying for Tuition Assistance for the 2012-13 School Year
- To complete the Parents Financial Statement, (PFS), online go to www.sss.nais.org/parents. Click on the “Apply Now” button. You will set up a PFS Online account using your e-mail address and a password. If you completed an online PFS application last year, use your e-mail address and existing password. If you have forgotten your password, click on “Forgot my password.” O'Dea's school ID with SSS is 166898. Submit and pay for the PFS ($37). This fee is nonrefundable.
- To Complete the Fulcrum Application (available December 1) go to www.fulcrumfoundation.org/tuition. Click on the “Application (9-12)” button. Complete form, print and sign it. Upload this document directly into your on-line SSS file or mail to SSS. Make sure the submit ID has printed clearly in the top left hand corner.If you answer yes to any question in Part D, you must also send copy of printed form with documents requested for signature by O'Dea principal. Please send this form to Linda Thornton to obtain the principal's signature.
- Send your 2010 1040 (first 2 pages), November 2011 Pay Stubs for all employed parents to SSS directly, or upload these documents directly into your on-line SSS file. For self employed parents, a Business Farm Statement and 2010 1040 Schedule C to SSS directly, or upload these documents directly into your on-line SSS file.
- When mailing documents to SSS, please use the O'Dea Required Documents Cover Sheet. Mail documents 2 weeks before the deadline as it take 2 weeks for SSS to process documents. If you are a returning student mail documents by December 15th and if you are a new student mail them by December 29th. The SSS mailing address is on the cover sheet.
- If you choose to fill out a paper copy of the PFS and submit it by mail vs. submitting this form electronically, the cost is $49.
- Once you have completed the above process please fill out the O'Dea Document Checklist and send to O'Dea High School, Attn: Linda Thornton. This document must be received at O'Deaby December 31 for returning students and January 12th for new students.
- To upload documents directly to your SSS on-line file, go to the Manage Documents tab in the PFS Online. There you can upload documents from your computer. Save each document separately in one of the following formats: Adobe Acrobat pdf, Microsoft Word, .jpg, or .tif. On the Manage Documents page, click on “Browse,” locate the document, then click on “Upload.”

Financial Aid Policy
Students must maintain a 2.0 grade point average. If the student’s grade point average is below 2.0 at the end of the first semester of the 2011-2012 school year, awards for the 2012-2013 year will be conditional on the student having a grade point above a 2.0 for the second semester. If the grade point average is below a 2.0 the second semester, no award will be given for the 2012-2013 school year.
