During the 2019 Easter Vacation, eleven O’Dea students spent their time in a small town outside of Cusco, Peru, working to help build Greenhouses for the community. After four days of hard work at 10,000 feet elevation, the Irish finished one Greenhouse and dug the foundation for another. The community was so grateful for all the work done which will allow the community to grow and sell crops and flowers year round to sell at the local market to support their families. In addition, the boys got to visit World Heritage site, Macchu Picchu. It was an amazing experience that benefited both the community of Cusco and all the young men at O’Dea who attended.

The 5th Annual Beards for Bros campaign has come to an end and the O’Dea students and community raised over $10,000 for adolescent medicine research at Seattle Children’s Hospital. The closing assembly featured the popular beard contest in which student judges from Holy Names Academy judged student beard growers in categories such as “Best Chinstrap,” “Best Goatee”, and “Best Effort!” Thank you to all students, faculty, staff, families, community members, and alumni that helped support this important cause!
