Minutes for May 9, 2012
- The meeting was called to order by Dave Pellegrini at 6:15 PM
- In addition to the Executive Council members, the meeting was attended by Br Walczak, Dianne Irwin, David Mazzeo ’99, Quinton Hooks ’78, Matt Irwin ’84, and Pat Pineda ’01.
- Br Walczak presented the opening prayer.
AGENDA
2012 POSH AUCTION
Dianne Irwin said the auction was a great success. The gross was about $369,000 and the net was about $300,000. More alums attended than in the past. The funded item this year brought in $100,000. This money will support the science, technology, math, and engineering programs at O’Dea.
SEATTLE FOUNDATION-GIVE BIG ON MAY 2nd
O’Dea received over $57,000 from 170 contributors. Contributions ranged from $10 to $5000.
MENTOR PROGRAM
Dave Pellegrini reported that we will continue to develop the program. Initially mentors will be available for graduates of O’Dea. The program will have rules that will be in place and must be followed.
CHRISTIAN BROTHERS RETIREMENT BENEFIT
Gene Kranc reported the 21st Brothers’ Benefit Breakfast on May 20th is on track to be another successful event. Contributions and attendance are running ahead of last year’s totals at this time. The breakfast is at the Knights of Columbus Hall and begins at 9:30 AM. Several alums and friends of the Brothers are on the committee.
EXECUTIVE COUNCIL ELECTION
The council will have a meeting in June to discuss the election as per the bylaws.
3rd ANNUAL ALUMNI MEMORIAL MASS --- Dianne Irwin
The Mass will be on November 3rd, in the Cathedral. Invitations will we sent families who have lost an O’Dea alum. A light lunch will be served after the Mass. Alums should be involved with this event. The Alumni Association will make every effort to get the word out and get the event on peoples’ calendars.
O’DEA GOLF TOURNAMENT --- David Mazzeo
The tournament will be on June 15th at the Golf Club at Redmond Ridge. We need hole sponsors. Last year we had 123 golfers and we made about $2000. The general mailing went out about two weeks ago. Emails will go out soon.
- Our next meeting will be in June on a date to be announced.
