Religion Department

Mr. Tom Schutte

A member of the O’Dea faculty since 1992, Mr. Tom Schutte teaches senior Religion. He is the Coordinator of the Campus Ministry Team, Chair of the Religion Department, and the Head Swim/Dive Coach. Mr. Schutte has an MA in Theology from Boston College and a BA in Theology from St. John’s University, Collegeville, Minnesota. He is a Certified Trainer with the Gurian Institute which focuses educating boy brains and nurturing healthy male character development. He was inducted into the O’Dea Athletic Wall of Fame in 2010. He is a two time Ironman Canada finisher, a dedicated US Masters Swimmer, and loves to cook dinners for friends and family. Mr. Schutte is married to Jennifer and the father of ten year old Sophia and seven year old Aidan.

 

Mr. John Anderson
Mr. John Anderson began teaching at O’Dea in 1999. He teaches Geometry Honors and Religion to juniors. A graduate of Queen Anne High School, Mr. Anderson has a BS in Mathematics from Seattle University and a Masters in Theological Studies from the University of Dallas. Mr. Anderson lives in Bremerton where he enjoys various outdoor activities as well as just hanging out with his wife and children.

 

Br. John Greenan
Teaching at O’Dea since 1992, Br. John Greenan teaches sophomore Religion. Br. Greenan is a graduate of Rice High School in New York and earned his BA in French at Iona College. He also has a Masters in Education Administration from the University of Hawaii. In June 2005, Br. Greenan celebrated his 50th Jubilee as a Christian Brother. Outside of school, Br. Greenan enjoys watching sports on TV or in person, reading and playing golf.

 

Br. Tom LeJeune

Br. LeJeune originally joined the O’Dea faculty in 1993. He is a Freshman Counselor, teaches Social Studies and is an assistant baseball and cross country coach. He earned a BA in Religious Studies from Iona College and an MA in Religious Education from Seattle University. Br. LeJeune is a native of New Orleans, LA.

 

Mr. David Olinger
Mr. David Olinger began teaching at O’Dea in 2002. He graduated from Xavier University, Cincinnati with a BA in English and Theology; he achieved National Board Certification in 2006. He teaches Freshman Honors English, Digital Photography, World Religions, and Seattle University’s Matteo Ricci College courses offered at O’Dea: Poverty in America and Composition: Language and Thought. He Facilitates the Social Justice team and is the Catholic Service Learning (CSL) Co-Ordinator.

 

Mr. John Paintner
Mr. John Paintner joined the O’Dea faculty in 2003, but he has taught high school theology since 1999. He graduated from Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento, CA. Mr. Paintner holds a BA in Liberal Studies from California State University, Sacramento, as well as a Masters of Theological Studies from the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley. His wife Christine directs an online ministry on the integration of the arts in spirituality and is the author of several books on contemplative practice through creative expression.

 

Mr. Davin Reyes
Mr. Davin Reyes joined the International Languages department at O’Dea in 2008. He teaches Spanish I and Religion IV. Prior to joining the O'Dea faculty he taught at St. Nicholas in Gig Harbor and for five years at Notre Dame High School, INC. back home on the beautiful island of Guam. After finally settling in the Silverdale area after traveling around the world as the son of a career Navy father, he graduated from Olympic High School in Silverdale. He has a BA in Spanish from Seattle University and a Master's in Education in Teacher Leadership from the University of Portland. In his free time, he keeps very active at his parish of Holy Trinity, in his local Chamorro community, and just spending time with his family and friends.
