International Languages Department

Ms. April Bauer
Ms. April Bauer, the International Languages Department Chair, teaches Latin I-IV and is the moderator for the Junior Classical League Club. She graduated from the University of Washington, earning a double major in Classical Studies and Latin. Following her undergraduate career she went to Duke University in North Carolina for Post-Baccalaureate work and then received her Masters Degree in Classics at San Francisco State University.

 

Ms. Gabriela Botello
Ms. Gabriela Botello joined the International Languages Department at O’Dea in 2004. She teaches second year Spanish classes and is the Assistant Athletic Director. Besides teaching and helping with athletics, she is the club advisor for Dance Committee, Latino/Filipino Heritage Club, co-moderator for Link Crew and the director/advisor for the Esperanza Spring Mission Team. She holds degrees in Elementary Education and Spanish from Central Washington University, along with minors in ESL and Bilingual Education. Ms. Botello also holds a Masters in Educational Administration and recently earned her Professional Teaching Certificate, both from Seattle University. She came to us via A.C. Davis High School in Yakima, WA. She grew up in Toppenish, WA, graduating from Toppenish High School. In her much cherished leisure time, she enjoys playing basketball, listening to music, dancing and visiting with family and friends.

 

Mrs. Toyo Nakayama
Mrs. Toyo Nakayama joined the O'Dea International Languages Department in 2003, where she teaches Japanese I, II and Honors Japanese III and IV. She also moderates the National Honor Society and Japanese club. She has taught for more than 20 years in Washington State. Originally from Kochi, Japan, Mrs. Nakayama received her BA in English from Kochi Women's University. In the past eight years she has taken a group of O'Dea students to Japan six times for an educational tour. Students visited many cities and world heritage sites that they have researched for their cultural study in class. In her free time, she enjoys walking, baking bread, cooking and listening to music (especially her own son's band called Grand Hallway).

 

Mr. Davin Reyes
Mr. Davin Reyes joined the International Languages Department at O’Dea in 2008. He teaches Spanish I and Religion IV. Prior to joining the O'Dea faculty he taught at St. Nicholas in Gig Harbor and for five years at Notre Dame High School, INC. back home on the beautiful island of Guam. After finally settling in the Silverdale area after traveling around the world as the son of a career Navy father, he graduated from Olympic High School in Silverdale. He has a BA in Spanish from Seattle University and a Master's in Education in Teacher Leadership from the University of Portland. In his free time, he keeps very active at his parish of Holy Trinity, in his local Chamorro community, and just spending time with his family and friends.

 

Mrs. Larkin Temme
Mrs. Larkin Temme joined the O'Dea faculty in 2007. She teaches Spanish III Honors and AP Spanish IV. She is also the ASB moderator for student activities. She is a Holy Names Academy graduate. She holds a BS in Psychology and a BA in Spanish from Santa Clara University as well as an MA in Secondary Education for Spanish from Providence College. Mrs. Temme recently moved back to Seattle from Boston. She enjoys running, tennis, yoga and spending time with her husband, dog and new baby girl.
