Administrative Team
Br. Karl J. Walczak was appointed as Principal of O’Dea High School in 2011 by Archbishop Sartain and the O’Dea High School Board of Directors. In addition to being the school Principal, Br. Walczak will be the coordinator of both parent clubs. He earned a MA in French from the University of Notre Dame and a MA in School Administration from the University of San Francisco. Brother has ministered in various teaching, activity moderating, and administrative positions in several Christian Brother schools in Illinois, California, and Hawaii. Br. Walczak was the Principal of Damien High School in Honolulu for ten years and the President of Brother Rice High School in Chicago for twelve years. Brother Walczak enjoys representing Catholic schools and has served on several regional and national education committees and boards. In his free time he enjoys air travel. He is a commercial aviation fanatic and participates in online commercial aviation business simulation scenarios.
Mr. James Walker
Our Assistant Principal for Student Services, Mr. James Walker, has been at O’Dea since 1991. Mr. Walker’s duties include teaching freshman Math activities and counseling. Mr. Walker earned his BA in Political Sciences/History at the University of Washington, and MA in Collegiate Administration from the University of Hawaii. He has an Ed.S. Educational Administration, Principal’s and Program Administrator’s Certification from Seattle University. He enjoys spending time with his six children and when possible, a quiet dinner with his wife Mimi.
Mr. Frank Lazarek
Mr. Frank Lazarek joined the O’Dea faculty in 1996. He serves as the Assistant Principal for Faculty, teaches Junior English and is an assistant varsity football coach. Mr. Lazarek graduated from St. Patrick High School in Vallejo, California and earned a BA in English from the University of California at Davis. He completed his graduate work in English at St. Mary’s. He also earned his Masters in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University. This past summer he also attended the Gurian Institute and is a certified Gurian trainer. Outside of school, Mr. Lazarek enjoys parenting, reading, writing and running.
